Day in Review: April 24, 2015

1. The general manager of the New York Jets (Mike Maccagnan) made the statement today that he will contact all of the teams in front of the Jets in the first round of this year’s NFL draft to see if they would be willing to trade down. Is this the Jets’ play for QB Marcus Mariota (Oregon)?

2. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said today that the Los Angeles stadium plans of the Rams, Raiders and Chargers are “viable” and “very exciting”. Will the NFL return to Los Angeles within the next five years? Probably. The question is: what(which) team(s)?

3. Perhaps the most shocking news of the day, QB Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys dared to say that the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl next year, again. He has said this so many times before and it has never once come true. I’m sure it will still remain a figment of Romo’s imagination seeing as they lost RB DeMarco Murray in the offseason.

4. WR Hakeem Nicks signed a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans today. Nicks spent last season with the Indianapolis Colts and the previous 5 seasons with the New York Giants.

5. News leaked today that draft prospect CB Jalen Collins (LSU) failed multiple drug tests in college. His draft stock may take a slight hit, but NFL teams don’t seem to care these days.

6. The Kansas City Chiefs have decided to exercise the fifth-year option on the contract of NT Dontari Poe. Poe has been a good piece in the Chiefs’ fantastic defense for the entirety of his career thus far.

That’s all for TheHaysWay today, have a pleasant tomorrow.

    1. Agreed. The Giants can prevent them from winning the NFC East with OBJ and Victor Cruz as long as Eli gets more protection.
