Weekend in Review: April 25-26, 2015

This weekend was not fantastic for me and uneventful in the NFL. Here’s the latest:

1. The Oakland Raiders have received calls for their #4 overall pick this year. Most likely, the New York Jets have shown interest because they publicly announced that they would like to trade up from #6 overall.

2. The Carolina Panthers have picked up the fifth-year option on LB Luke Kuechly. This comes as no surprise as he has been one of the best players in the NFL in his time in the league. He will definitely be receiving a MASSIVE paycheck next offseason whether it is with the Panthers or not.

3. Now moving from the NFL to college for the saddest news of the weekend. QB Ryan Finley of the Boise State Broncos was arrested on two misdemeanors over the weekend. He WAS the big favorite to start at QB for the Broncos this season, but now I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets kicked off the team because Boise State expects good character from their players. At the very least, he will get suspended, which means that Freshman QB Brett Rypien will get a chance to be the next Kellen Moore. He was a four-star recruit and is nephew of former Washington Redskins’ QB Mark Rypien.
