Too Many Days in Review: Apr —May 3, 2015

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, I was gone on a vacation/business trip. There are a lot of NFL stories that I missed with the draft going on, but here goes nothing:

1. The 2015 NFL Draft started Thursday night and finished yesterday afternoon. The first five picks are as follows: 1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State; 2. Tennessee Titans- Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon; 3. Jacksonville Jaguars- Dante Fowler Jr., OLB, Florida; 4. Oakland Raiders- Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama; 5. Washington Redskins- Brandon Scherff, OG, Iowa. The best player in the NFL Draft fell to the New York Jets at #6 overall in the form of Leonard Williams, DT, USC. Mr. Irrelevant was Christian Gerald, TE, Louisville who was drafted with the 256th overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals.

2. OT La’el Collins (LSU) was not drafted due to a police investigation involving a murder in Louisiana that Collins was asked to answer questions about. Collins is not a suspect and was previously projected to be a first-rounder.

3. RB Zac Stacy was traded from the St Louis Rams to the New York Jets following the Rams’ selection of RB Todd Gurley (Georgia) with the 10th overall pick. The Rams got a seventh-rounder in the trade. Stacy spent both of the last two seasons with the Rams.

4. News regarding the former Boise State Broncos in the draft: RB Jay Ajayi fell to the Miami Dolphins in the 5th round with the 149th overall pick. He is considered to be one of the best value picks of the NFL draft as he was previously expected to go Friday night. WR Matt Miller was signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent.

5. The New York Giants drafted an offensive lineman in round 1 (Ereck Flowers, OG, Miami) and traded up to the 1st pick in round 2 to snag Landon Collins (SS, Alabama). The Collins pick very much excited me and the Giants definitely could use the help on the o-line with Flowers.

That’s all for TheHaysWay today, have a pleasant tomorrow. P.S.: I will go a little more in-depth on draft stuff when I have time. I would like to do a comparison with my mock draft.
