Day in Review: May 6, 2015

Today was a LONG day, so here is some brief NFL news to make it seem short 🙂 :

1. The NFL’s investigation on “Deflategate” (the New England Patriots’ football deflation in this year’s AFC championship game) has finally come to a conclusion. And the verdict is…GUILTY: Jim McNally (Officials Locker Room attendant for the Pats), John Jastremski (equipment assistant for the Pats) and…(drumroll please)…Tom Brady (QB for the Pats). Not Guilty: Robert Kraft (Pats’ owner) and Bill Belichick (HC for the Pats). The incident could cost McNally and Jastremski their jobs and Brady may be punished as well (though he won’t lose his job).

2. S Ed Reed has announced his retirement from the NFL. Another legendary defensive back hangs up his cleats this offseason, Reed played 2013 with the New York Jets, 2012 with the Houston Texans, and the previous 11 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, including the SB 47 Championship team.

3. Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton is offended that the Colts took WR Phillip Dorsett (Miami) in the first round of this year’s NFL draft. Dorsett is a very similar player to Hilton, and Hilton is headed into a contract year, after which, he could get paid a LOT of money. The Colts might be hoping to avoid that paycheck.

4. NFL Network started their countdown of the top 100 players of 2015 (as voted on by the players) tonight with their reveal of #100-91. Here’s the list: 100. Randall Cobb, WR, Green Bay Packers, 99. Calais Campbell, DE, Arizona Cardinals, 98. Adam Vinatieri, K, Indianapolis Colts, 97. Joe Flacco, QB, Baltimore Ravens, 96. Jurrell Casey, DE, Tennessee Titans, 95. Emmanuel Sanders, WR, Denver Broncos, 94. C.J. Mosley, LB, Baltimore Ravens, 93. Jason Witten, TE, Dallas Cowboys, 92. Aaron Donald, DT, St Louis Rams, 91. Julian Edelman, WR, New England Patriots. I was surprised to see a kicker on the list, Sanders is overrated, and I was EXTREMELY excited to see both Aaron Donald and C.J. Mosley (both rookies) here because Odell Beckham Jr. was WAY better than both of them this year, so I’m hopeful that he could be north of #60 on this year’s list.

That’s all for TheHaysWay today, have a pleasant tomorrow.
