Last true Monday for the next couple of weeks because I get memorial day off (thank goodness) Here’s the news:
1. New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr believes NFL players should be paid more. Odell, if everyone made physics-defying plays like you all of the time, I wouldn’t have a problem with that. But seeing as the lowest paid NFL players still make more money annually to play A GAME than most ordinary working people, I think players make enough for now.
2. The Miami Dolphins have signed QB Ryan Tannehill to a 5-year, $77 million contract extension…for some reason. I understand why Tannehill would sign that because the ‘Fins have done nothing but try to surround him with a great supporting cast, but this move doesn’t make a lot of sense for the ‘Fins. He hasn’t proven himself yet.
3. San Francisco 49ers DT Justin Smith retires after 14 seasons in the NFL. The previous seven he spent in San Fran, the seven before that in Cincinnati with the Bengals.
4. San Diego Chargers CEO Dean Spanos gives up day-to-day control of the team. Maybe to please Phillip Rivers?
That’s all for TheHaysWay, have a pleasant tomorrow.
