Today was HUMP DAAAYYY, and there are some good news stories to go along with it:
- Washington Redskins LB Junior Galette tore his Achilles’ tendon, resulting in him missing this season. Junior Galette signed with the ‘Skins this offseason following his release from the New Orleans Saints. Galette spent the previous 5 seasons with the Saints.
- The offseason collapse of the San Francisco 49ers continued today. Former Niners DT Ray McDonald was indicted today on a count of rape, and current LB Ahmad Brooks was charged with misdemeanor sexual battery. The question now: Is it time for the 49ers to start over, or have they already begun to start over? I think a little bit of both.
- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed on a contract with K Connor Barth. The deal is for two years and $2.75 million and came just hours after his release from the Denver Broncos. Barth spent last season with the Broncos, the 4 seasons prior with the Bucs, and the season before that with the Kansas City Chiefs.
- My boy, DE Osi UmeNYiora has officially decided to hang up his cleats. His retirement announcement comes after declining an offer from the New York Jets, stating, “Either I was going to play for the Giants or I wasn’t going to play football at all.” A class act to the very end, I am VERY disappointed that my Giants did NOT give him a one-day retirement contract. Are they really the family organization they claim to be?
That’s all for TheHaysWay today, have a pleasant tomorrow.
