“Yeah I have always had that drive. It is just not giving up. When you have a dream, you don’t want anybody to mess that up no matter who it is, whether it is media, a family member or whoever it is. If you have a dream, you stick to it. You chase it.” -Brandon Browner, CB, Seattle Seahawks
I hope you all enjoyed the Pursuit of Happiness scene. Now, you’re probably wondering why I used a quote from Brandon Browner, of all people. The news for the day should shed some light on that:
- The Seattle Seahawks will be using CB Brandon Browner as a hybrid player. His main position will still be CB, but head coach Pete Carroll said the CB will also play some S depending on matchups.
- RB Terron Beckham left the New York Jets facilities without a contract. The former high school football player turned fitness model has been trying to get back into the game like his cousin, WR Odell Beckham Jr of the New York Giants. (Note: If Rex Ryan was still coaching the Jets, Terron would have been signed just to irritate Odell and the Giants.) After a stellar pro day, Beckham will likely continue to look for another opportunity, possibly with his cousin’s team, which has shown interest in the past.
- RB Donnell Alexander had a tryout with the Kansas City Chiefs, the team for which his father, the late Derrick Thomas, played. Although Alexander likely won’t make the team, it must be a terrific experience for him to see his father’s legacy in the facilities and have a chance of following in his footsteps.
- San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon underwent microfracture surgery. This story line will become totally irrelevant because either: a) Gordon will move past the injury to become a WAY better RB than he was in his rookie year or b) Gordon will continue to perform at the same level in which he performed during his rookie year, meaning he will be out of the league in a matter of years.
I couldn’t find any good quotes from Terron, Donnell, or Melvin, so Brandon was the play. I opted not to use a Derrick Thomas quote because he wasn’t the focus of that story line. That’s all for TheHaysWay today, make sure to leave a comment and/or a like on this post and/or any other posts that are comment-worthy and/or likable, and have a pleasant tomorrow.
